The 2010 Paris Fashion Week took place between September 30th~ October 8th of 2009. Out of 30 designers, 4 designers: Balenciaga, Azzaro, Christian Dior, and Lanvin’s collection seems to be the next trend setter according to Isham Sardouk, senior Vice president of trend forecasting for style sight.

First is Balenciaga–> For Spring 2010: leather was the main fabric. By dying leather, cutting it into thin strips, and folding it to create skirts with strips, Balenciaga brought in a new twist to leather. Relatively speaking, “Leather” has a reputation of either being a motorcycle jacket or leather pants. Now it’s twisted into skirts, leggings, etc.

Second is Azzaro. For spring 2010—> the theme was Vanessa Seward’s white cat Monsieur Jo. The inspiration was feline–> white dresses either long or short. Like a cat, sly and sexy was the attitude of this collection. One of the highlights of Azzaro’s collection is the white chiffon dress with the cat attacking from behind a curtain of silk.

Third trend-setter is Christian Dior. The main theme for the 2010 collection is elegance in the bed to be worn as ready-to-wear. This collection, Dior’s main fabric was sheer silk. Everything was clear visible. However it brought a new light to nightgown wear. It seemed like there should be no such thing as a night wear only, you should be able to wear it in the day as well.

Lastly, Lanvin brought the party to the fashion house by theming the fashion week as a “party.” This collection was filled with platform shoes, plunged neckline, and skirts that skimmed the thighs. Also some of the 80’s poofy shoulders with pleated pants that nipped at the ankles were the highlights. Lanvin’s collection seemed to target the younger generation to be bold in what they’re wearing. To not be afraid to be different.
